Sewa International Houston Web Team Report 6/28
Team: Web Design
Date: June 28
Tasks completed (and by whom):
1. Tested and configured Drupal mailing list functionality (George)
2. Read, modified, understood Drupal theme, checked sample themes. (Seif)
3. Drafted volunteer/refugee information page (Ranju)
4. Talked with other teams for information (Vikram, Rohan)
5. Gathered summaries on each team in Get Inspired Houston (Vikram, Rohan)
Tasks for the coming week
1. Get access to Sewa Houston site. Give each developer customized user access.
2. Arrange system for logging each developer’s revisions
3. Complete newsletter template after testing Drupal newsletter functionality
4. Organize categories in anticipation for different types of content
5. Look into website backup
6. Incorporate printer-friendly functionality
7. Look into website security
8. Check for email server functionality
9. Get RSS feed for newsletters, etc.
10. Complete description for Bhutanese project
11. Complete description for Get Inspired Houston 2009 project
12. Create summaries for each team in GIH 2009
13. Various Photoshop image designs

- Read, install, and modify different themes to suit Sewa-Houston website
- Create website with menus
Task completed (elaborate the details):
- Read on sunny_sky and vigilianty themes that supports drop-down lists.
- Modified Foliage theme header, replaced with one I made using photoshop.
- Website created with menus, but they do not support drop-down lists yet.
What are you planning to do next week (breakdown into tasks)?
- Take a look on security for the website and RSS feed.

1. Meet up with other teams to gather information/pictures, and content.
2. Start editing the Bhutanese page using content from PR.
Task completed (elaborate the details):
1. Went to India House and interviewed the other three teams (Public Relations, Workforce Dev., Womens Rights) and gathered information to make summaries for each of the groups
2. Made and edited summary for the Public Relations group.
What are you planning to do next week (breakdown into tasks)
- Make a banner for the newsletter, modifiying the original one, using Adobe Photoshop.
- Make a Donate Button for the website, using Adobe Photshop
- Continue to work on the Bhutanese Empowerment Tab.

Web Team 6/20
Date: 6/20/2009
Tasks completed (and by whom):
1. (Seif, Ranju, George) Installed web server, database server, local host server on our computers.
2. Created mock website on our servers, with tabs for About, Contact, Get Inspired Houston, etc.
3. Installed and configured a theme on our servers.
4. Installed and used a list of program modules we will be using to develop the website.
5. (Vikram, Rohan) Got in touch with PR and Women’s Issues regarding web articles and pictures.
6. Made or started content on About Sewa, Get Inspired Houston, Bhutanese project.
7. Started requesting volunteers for biographical information.
Tasks for the coming week
1. Reserving domain names for future Sewa projects.
2. Make it possible for volunteers to directly access necessary website functions, such as uploading articles
3. Making and managing databases for volunteer information, refugee information, and files.
4. Getting familiar with modifying themes for the website
5. Make newsletter template, implement it in website construction
6. Photo gallery
7. Request and compile photos
8. Content: FAQs, media, bios, graphics art, and other articles

1. For making graphics, is it possible to get Adobe Photoshop somehow?

Date: 6/20/09
Assigned task during last week:
1. Establish organized communication with PR, and Women's RIghts
teams.
2. Send out request for Bio's and Pictures from each team member in the
whole organization.
3. Edit the About tab, by recieving information from PR.
Task completed:
1. About tab for the Bhutanese Project is done and all that is needed is a apt picture.
2. Connection with PR and Women's Rights made, and content
is being recieved from both teams
3. Requests are made for Biography, so that info and picture can be uploaded onto website.
Comments on Availability on Resources:
At this point, I have a reasonable amount of content to work with, however I can only
work as fast as the content comes to me, and I understand that each of the teams are working
hard to send in content when they have spare time.
For the later portions of work, in which I was requested to use Adobe Photoshop, since I only had it at school,
I may need to find a computer or a person that I can ask to use the software to create banner, etc.
Still Need Biographies and pictures from PR, along with a good amount of pictures so that I can start sorting everything out.
